It's a good time to be General Hospital alum Emily Wilson (ex-Ellie Trout). The actress has landed a new job on OWN's upcoming docuseries, The Hero Effect, and she just married her beau, Adhir Kalyan.
"Last weekend this happened... And it was the best day of my life!" Wilson wrote on Instagram of the nuptials that took place on October 1.
Y&R's Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) was a guest at the wedding and shared a photo collage from the newlywed's big day that includes her husband, Justin Gaston (ex-Ben Weston, Days of our Lives). She wrote, "The best wedding weekend celebrating the beautiful bride and groom. Congratulations"
But becoming a wife isn't the only thing Wilson is celebrating at the moment. The actress took to Twitter to share that she has also landed a gig on the new OWN docuseries The Hero Effect.
"EXCITING NEWS!" she tweeted. "I can finally tell everyone what I've been working on for the past year! So proud of this!"
The Hero Effect showcases stories of ordinary individuals who are making extraordinary differences in their communities, with each episode being shot on location in different communities across the country. The real-life stories are presented by United Way -- the world's largest privately-funded nonprofit -- and build on the company's mission to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community, Variety reports.
The 10-episode series will be co-hosted by Wilson and NFL star and former Dancing With the Stars winner Donald Driver.
"Throughout my 35 years of working with communities at United Way, I've learned that the vast majority of people are eager to make the world a better place," said Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of United Way Worldwide. "The men and women featured in The Hero Effect are our local heroes, stepping forward to make a difference in their communities. We're incredibly inspired by their work and excited to help share them and their efforts with the world."
The first season of The Hero Effect will cover issues including veterans services, human trafficking, early childhood education and foster care children. Two back-to-back episodes will air on the second Saturday of every month at 10AM, beginning on Saturday, November 12.
